Official Tar’n’Tech MEGA event geocoin.

This is the Limited Edition version of the Tar’n’Tech MEGA event geocoin series, with only 50 coins produced.

Designed by Christian Mackey.

The geocoin represents Oulu’s history as a tar city as well as its present as a technology hub. The front is dominated by a futuristic TAR’N’TECH text and a large tar barrel. Behind the barrel is a circuit board, and along the rim runs a line of cipher text :).

The reverse of the geocoin is dominated by the Tree of Knowledge, with various technology icons hidden among its roots. On the left side of the tree are two small tar barrels, and on the right, a sailing ship, recalling the vessels once built in Oulu. A circuit board pattern can also be seen in the background.

This version is satin nickel, with the background and the front text coated in translucent purple.

This is the largest Finnish MEGA geocoin to date, measuring 60 mm wide and 58 mm high.
